What is in the deck

The UK TV Shows deck has 50 cards. You won't see the order. A few of the names you might draw:

  • Only Fools and Horses
  • Fawlty Towers
  • Line of Duty
  • The Great British Bake Off
  • Peppa Pig

A worked spend

You have $20 for 5 picks. Spend $7 on Only Fools and Horses and you've got $13 for four more cards. The reserve rule keeps $1 back for every slot you still owe, so your next bid tops out at $10. Win Countdown, Fireman Sam, Mock the Week and Gogglebox at $1 each and you finish with $9 left over. That's your score. Try $5 on every card instead and the rule stops you on the fourth: $5 left, two slots to fill, so $4 is the most you can bid.

How to draft UK TV Shows

This deck mixes genres on purpose, so you're never comparing like with like. Is Taskmaster worth more than Peaky Blinders? There's no answer, which is why it plays well. Comedy goes for the most money because everyone has a favourite and quotes it. Soaps split the room. The kids' shows look like junk until somebody gets nostalgic and pays $3 for Postman Pat, so let them.

The rules are the same for every category and take a minute to read: how to play, or why an auction beats a snake draft.
